Final day of All Star weekend.

I went H.A.M. (urban dictionary) this weekend. It started with a busy thursday. My boy Javaro Duncan came through and lived the LA life for a great weekend. Friday I hosted Verbally Loud Poetry Lounge, as usual the spot was live and blessed with great poetry. We bounced to the Congo room to party after. Woke up early Saturday and took part of the Los Fearless basketball tournament. I lost in the finals in a heartbreaking defeat that came down to the wire. Nike put on the event and it was major. I hurt my heel in the event so I had to pull out of bowling at the celebrity bowling event. I am performing at a Debutant ball for young people. I am doing an inspirational poem for young people called “Triumph”. We party with D Wade at his finale party tonight. Its going down like a plane crash. Sitting out of the KJLH celebrity game. Hopefully we can win.

1st Day of NBA All Star weekend

My NBA All Star weekend began running around the city preparing with me son. We hit the barber and got chopped up before our appearance at Venice Beach. At Venice we did a streetball event for ESPN radio. Some of the best ballers in the city were there showing off tons of tricks and great athletic ability. The music was pumping and the crowd was jumping. Andrew Bynum and Michael Cooper from the Lakers came through as well. My son made his first “real” basketball goal at this event. I was so happy.
Then I went and trained some young hoopers before I attended the star studded art event put on by Paint It Forward and the She Cares Foundation. The foundations raised a lot of money at this well put together gala. It was held at the African American museum at USC. Some of the greatest NBA player’s mothers were honored as well as the legendary Nancy Leiberman. Amongst the Mother’s that were honored were Dolores Jordan, Mary Anthony, “Mama Marion”. Michael Jordan’s mom, Carmelo Anthony’s mom, and Shawn Marion’s mom. The place was star studded. Christine Millian was in the building, along with Lil Mama, Carmelo Anthony, Lala, Nancy Lieberman, Al B Sure, Erika Alexander and many more… stay posted. its going down this weekend. Just day 1

That New New

Hola! been a little while. I’m back like I never left though. Celebrating Black History Month every day this month. If your not my friend on Facebook you should be. I’m giving some dope information on there. All Star weekend coming up next weekend and the Grammy’s this weekend. I have a bunch of people coming in town and some events lined up. @ D Wade parties, A Lebron Part, Special invited Los Fearless 2 on 2 tourney, and a Celebrity basketball game. Tickets for all the games are crazy high but I’m going to see what I can swing. Gotta use these connections. I have some new work happening. Stay posted. Shel Bailey on FB

Verbally Loud

Last night I hosted a great poetry event called Verbally Loud. The event was the 3rd anniversary of Verbally Loud at Harlem’s Cafe downtown LA. The turn out was cool and the show went smooth. I did my thing as a host. It had been a while since I had been in front of a poetry crowd but I was super happy to be there. I spit a few poems for the crowd and they were received well. If your ever in LA on the 1st and/or 3rd friday come through. We get it in at 8pm and get out in time for you to hit the club. www.verballyloud.com

Last week of the month

January started kind of sketchy for me. It brought me back from Taiwan suddenly. I saw myself dropped from a Sprite campaign only to be picked back up for it. I’ve had some family issues but here I am at the end of the month and the beginning of the year standing tall (literally). I had some haters try to knock me down but here I am standing tall. I’m up for a couple of ad campaigns. I host Verbally Loud poetry event this friday and twice next month. My music project is going well and my son is doing great. Nothing to complain about but it wouldn’t help if I did. Thanks to my Fam who always support. “I don’t have fans I have fam. That’s why my people got my back like the Verzon man” Jay Electronica. I’m going hard. How about you?

Jack and Jill

Just finished the 1st day of shooting on the Happy Madison movie “Jack and Jill”. It was a long shoot day but fun. We had surprise guests on set. Well they were surprises to me. I already knew I would see Adam Sandler and Al Pacino. One of my favorite actors, Johnny Depp was in a scene today and Rihanna stopped by the set. I’m not sure if she has a scene but we will be back at it on friday. I hope she is. She was looking pretty nice in real life. Johnny Depp’s a nice guy and talented. When you see the movie look out for me. I will be #17 on the Sacramento Kings.

Adam Sandler movie “Jack and Jill”

Playing for the Sacremento Kings in a scene with Adam Sandler and Al Pacino. Just happy to be in the building with those 2 guys. Screen legends. We shoot next tuesday and friday. I’ll follow up with some pictures.

Start of the New Year

This New Year has brought me from Taiwan back to LA, to my son, and my entertainment biz. just partnered with Teneale Bender to run and host the poetry spot Verbally Loud. Just booked a Nike football spot. Putting in work in the 2011. Keep you posted.

Back on my Grind

Back in LA putting in work in the entertainment industry. Nike callback today. Meeting to lock down my 1st poetry venue, Verbally Loud. Super excited about that. Had to come home and take care of my son but I’ve switched my hustle and here we are. Wish me well

Happy New Year

Back in the US after having to leave my team for some family issues here. Hope to get back to Taiwan soon. Partied it up at comedian Russell Peters house last night. It was like little standup shows in forming in each corner of the house. I guess that’s what happens when you have a bunch of comedian friends at your New Year’s party. It was a good time and we brought the New Year and Decade in strong. I made sure to give my Thanks to the most high for everything I received and learned in the 2010. Thanks for bringing my son into my home. That was the biggest blessing of the year and to end it with a pro basketball contract is straight hotness.

About Me

My name is Sheldon, but most people know me just as Shel. I live in Taipei, Taiwan for now--doing what I love... playing basketball. I'm more than just a bball player. I'm an actor, poet and sports commercial double. That's right, I've appeared in more then 12 national and international commercials. I have several movie and print credits and have a book of poetry on the market called 180 degrees. The book is a collection of poems in story and lyric form. I like to look at myself as a triple threat like Terrence Howard, Mos Def and Jamie Foxx and I don't plan on falling short of any of those fellas. Check in with me here as I share my day to day journey through what we all call LIFE!

Peace.
